The Zambia Seed Trade Association (ZASTA), in partnership with The African Seed Access Index (TASAI), Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT), the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), AGRA and other stakeholders, successfully held the Stakeholder Dissemination Workshop for the 2025 Zambia Seed Sector Assessment in Lusaka from 29–30 July 2026.
The workshop brought together government, research institutions, private seed companies, regulators and development partners to review the assessment findings and identify priority actions for strengthening Zambia’s seed sector.
Officially opened by Dr. Nathan Phiri, Director of the Seed Certification and Control Institute (SCCI), the event highlighted key indicators on varietal release, seed availability, quality assurance, agro-dealer networks and farmers’ access to improved seed.
Participants also explored the SeedSAT methodology to validate sector data and develop practical recommendations for future policy and investment. ZASTA reaffirmed its commitment to working with public and private sector partners to promote evidence-based decision-making, expand access to quality climate-smart seed, and enhance agricultural productivity, food security and economic growth in Zambia.
