Zed mobile’s fall puts poor telecom services under spotlight

Zed Mobile’s license cancellation has put the quality of telecom services in Zambia under renewed scrutiny, with consumer representatives warning that other mobile network providers could face similar consequences if they fail to meet regulatory requirements and address consumer complaints. The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority ZICTA on Tuesday 15th September 2026 cancelled the operating license of Beeline Telecoms Limited, trading as Zed Mobile, following the company’s failure to meet regulatory requirements.
