Zambia’s trade surplus reached K3.5 billion in April

Zambia recorded a trade surplus of K3.5 billion in April 2026, a significant rise from the K0.9 billion surplus recorded in March, according to official government data. The growth was driven by a 1.5% increase in exports, which rose from K25.0 billion in March to K25.4 billion in April. Export earnings were buoyed by a 17.8% surge in raw material exports and a 0.4% increase in capital goods.  Meanwhile, imports fell by 9.3%, from K24.1 billion in March to K21.9 billion in April.
