According to the 2025 crop survey report conducted by Zambia Statistics Agency -ZamStats, seed cotton has recorded a reduction in production from 9 thousand metric tons in 2024 to only 6 thousand metric tons in 2025, which is indicating 26.9% reduction. However, Agriculture Expert Dr. Oliver Bulaya has attributed the reduction in seed cotton production due to lower selling prices on the market which has discouraged alot of farmers from engaging in seed cotton production.
