United Gypsum Investment Limited, the now only operational gypsum producer and supplier in Zambia after the closure of Chambeshi Metals in 2020, has reported increase in production, rising by approximately 42% in 2025 up from 2024 numbers. This growth follows the continued closure of Chambishi Metals PLC,previously the country’s principal producer of synthetic gypsum, which was placed under care and maintenance by Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) in January 2020 and has not resumed operations since.
