Chinese firm proposes new underground mine in Lusaka

Two Chinese mining companies, Sinomine Geological Engineering Resources Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinomine Resource Group Co. Ltd. (Beijing), and Deco Luck Investments Limited, whose ownership and control are foreign, have joined forces to develop a medium-grade copper deposit in Lusaka Province. The mining site is situated in the Chiawa area of Kafue District, Lusaka Province, approximately 102 kilometers east of Kafue’s central business district. The proposed mine, which falls under the Kafue district and in eastern Chongwe, near Chieftainess Chiawa’s area, is expected to operate for 15 years.
