KoBold Metals to invest $3bn in Zambia

KoBold Metals, an exploration company backed by billionaires Bill Gates and Sam Altman, has pledged to invest approximately $3 billion in Zambia’s mining sector, marking a milestone with the official groundbreaking of the Mingomba project in Chililabombwe district on the Copperbelt. The Mingomba mine, valued at $2 billion, is set to become Zambia’s largest copper mining operation.
