4.5 million hectares of land needed for a 10 million tonne maize target at current yields

Zambia’s quest to produce 10 million metric tonnes of maize by 2031, alongside 1 million tonnes each of wheat and soybeans, calls for a shift from increasing land under cultivation to boosting productivity, according to Katwando Chawinga, Product Development Manager at Seedco Zambia Ltd.
